What's wrong with this health care system? Statistics have shown that the likelihood of contracting an underlying infection or having a medical error was actually higher than an airplane accident.
Where are we going wrong in our clinical settings? Why is this happening? Is it due to a shortage of staff or the inattention to detail or the lack of communication with the patients?
I've said it before, and I will say it again....we need to develop an rapport and a good trusting relationship between practitioner and client/patient. The practitioner has to ask complete whole personal lifestyle questions and not just blood pressure, weight, and pulse. A blood pressure will not tell us that our client had a fight with their boyfriend last night and all she ate was a piece of cake the whole day yesterday.
Get to know the client and form a professional relationship with them. By forming a bond with the client and offering a nonjudgmental and peaceful setting will promote health.
Look at the western doctor's offices for an example. When we walk into the office, the reception is completely sectioned off with closed windows and scornful faces. There is no welcoming energy in the room. There are straight upright stiff chairs in the waiting area, with old tattered magazines of various genres, and typically a television is set on a news channel or standard channel with several nauseating drug commercials between the actual show.
We should not be leaving our safe homes to endure a setting that offers us that. As we sit in a western doctor office we are sensitive and vulnerable. We go there for some sort of resolution. We are sick to some degree and require healing. Healing should begin the moment you walk into the doctor's office.
Be well, safe travels....
