Our bodies make Vitamin K naturally, but it is important to also supplement this vitamin on our dietary intake as well.
Where do we get Vitamin K from?
Many Vegans and raw foodists consume this vitamin in copious amounts. It is found in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, collards, sea kelp, brussel sprouts, alfalfa, asparagus, cabbage, lettuce, okra, onions, pears, and broccoli.
Remember what I said about consuming this vegetable in moderate amounts as supplemental to our diets? What can happen if you eat more than your share of Vitamin K over a long duration, every day - like vegans and raw foodists? Well, your body could be very high in clot factor which could result in blood clots, embolism, and even stroke. In women, they could even suffer from having no menstruation.
To balance out the Vitamin K, what you could do to thin the blood is to add fresh garlic to your meals or your green drinks. Garlic is a natural blood thinner.
Many people (usually cardiac patients) are told to take Coumadin (prescription from Doctor) which is a massive blood thinner and they are advised to even use an electric razor in stead of a blade.
This vitamin IS stored in the body and is fat soluble. Because it is stored in the body, it is NOT necessary to take a supplemental pill form. The other fat soluble vitamins that are stored in the body are Vitamin A, D, and E. Just remember the order of ADEK and you won't forget which vitamins are fat soluble.
